Dashcam's....

who has one? I got an iTrue X3 dashcam about 2 months ago and really like it. I don't think I will ever be driving without one again. No, I haven't really "needed" it since I got it, but I have captured a couple of interesting moments with it. Once while driving home from work I had a guy pass me and two other vehicles (that were in front of me) all three at the same time. When he finally passed that lead car, there was an oncoming car in the opposite lane that both it, and the lead car, had to slow down and get over to let this idiot back in line. I am sure that eventually I will capture more interesting moments like that, but hopefully not because of me being in an accident!

It's something I have thought about... don't know anyone local with one.

See a lot of crazy things on city streets... side shows are the worst... never know where the incoming with strike.

When I encounter drivers like that and the ones who ride my bumper, I tell myself they are trying to make it to the restroom. It makes them easier to take.

I bought a Swann SWADS-150 DCM. B&H Photo
Nice little camera and fairly simple to operate. Wife saw it in action and liked it, so I got another for her car. It's a discontinued model now but you can still find them for sale in many places..
I've captured a couple of close calls of people pulling in front of me and deer crossing in front of me. I also take it to my part time mail truck job so that I could show the boss what happened if there were ever an incident.

I have had cheapy genric in my semi for over 4 years now . Bailed me out on a accident in a construction zone 3 years ago . Lady said I hit here , ( 1 of 2 female CHP officers believed her story ) . Evidence on my bumper and ladies right rear of car suggested otherwise , ( Which other female CHP officer and Male officer believed my story ) . Pulled SD card , plug it into my laptop and let all 3 officers watch . Lady never got to see it , But the look on that 1 CHP officer's face , YEP , It was Priceless !! :thumbsup:

Do Russian have more collision because they have dash cams or do they have dash cams because they have more collisions.

I've driven a lot in Europe... every country in Western Europe and always see a fatal accident... part of it is speed and part the recklessness of the other guy.

Well, I may have to partially retract my above review. My wife's Swann camera is still working as it should. Mine, however gave up on me this weekend. Long story short, won't power up after trying a couple of different things. Of course there's no weekend tech support. I've emailed them and I'll see how it goes. But past experience with their support tells me that the response won't be lightning fast.
So I went to Amazon and ordered a Transcend DrivePro 220. The Swann should still be under warranty as it was purchased 11/15 so we'll see what happens. I'll use it in my work truck if it's fixed or replaced.

Russia has more dash cam videos because it is more up to the individual's to prove their case. That is the reason everyone has their dash cam as the never sleeping witness. I too have been thinking of getting a dash cam.

I read somewhere it was a requirement to have them in Russia.

I have run little 808 #16 keychain cameras as dash cams for a while now. They work pretty good for cheap but I plan to upgrade to a real dash cam one of these days. I want a unit that has front and rear 1080P cameras with GPS encoded in the video.
