RPM governed? Ym342

I just discovered that RPMs are capped at bout 2400 when pto in 540e. Ym342, BTW. When pto level in neutral or 1, rpms not governed. I haven't confirmed in manual. Really confused me the other day. I usually drive round with pto in N but, just unhooked mower and discovered this. Had me worried for a moment cuz engine had just finished a regeneration.

It is working as designed. Running at 2400 rpm is more than sufficient to perform a regen or to do the majority of the work you do with your tractor. 540E actually uses a 750 PTO that is limited by the reduction of engine speed and is designed to use when you don't need the maximum torque.

Thanks, Freightboy. Wasn't an issue nor discovered when operating pto. I never go above the 2018 rpm in 540e. But, once disconnected, I drove away and wasn't acclerating...now I know. Good feaure. I dropped pto into neutral and ran as usual.
