I want to be able to plant a large garden (about .5 to 1 acre) and need to be able to create hilled rows. I was told that a cultivator can do this. Is this the case?

I'd also like a cultivator in any case so I can weed between rows. I have a Mahindra 5525 (54hp) tractor that is about 6' wide. Do I need a cultivator of a certain width? Do I need a 1 row or 2 row cultivator? My soil largely consists of clay but isn't that hard.

Is there a particular cultivator you'd recommend or have me avoid?

Thanks

I have clay soil. If you attach field sweeps to the tines of a 6' wide 2 row cultivator you will be able to create hilled rows.

Agri Supply has what's called a Keulavator that'll accept both cultivator tines and opposed discs to make raised rows.

I've an old JD M soil ripper that has a diamond tool bar. I can put opposed discs or up to 7 cultivator tines or a combo of both. Attached are some pics.

Think you'll want your rear tires to run between the rows. You'd want 2 or 3 tines behind each wheel. For raised rows, just run the opposed discs behind each wheel.
