Eddie, don't you EVER STOP??? I thought this thread was done so I haven't checked it in several months. I don't even remember where I stopped reading but I did follow the gazebo construction. Once again, you're doing a great job and I can't wait to see this finished. You kind of sound like me, I've got about 6 different projects going in various stages and it seems like I never get any of them finished!

Nothing new to report on pouring the concrete. Every time I start to see the ground drying out, we get another storm. Some are just half an inch, others are over two inches. Temps still haven't hit 100 degrees this year, so we're having a very cool summer with extra rain. I guess it's making up for last year?

If I get a good solid week of warm weather without any rain, I'll schedule the truck to come out and pur the dam. Until then, I'm way behind in mowing!!!!

That is because you are sending the heat up here to the NE!

I wish you would send the rain up here, we are in a severe drought and have had several days in a row with 100+ degree temperatures. The corn crops that are not irrigated are burnt up as well as the beans. A few early hay fields were harvested but not even weeds are growing now and some of the trees are starting to die. My pond is down over two feet and it looks like we will be getting no relief for some time, so enjoy your rains while you have them.

BTW you sure are doing a great job with your gazebo and all your other projects, I enjoy reading your threads. Let us know when your RV park is done, we are planning a trip down your way in the future and would enjoy staying at your park for a day or two.

Nope, the rains keep coming. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get to it this month, and August isn't look good for me either.

I wonder if your dam with a vertical face will have enough mass to resist the water pressure.
Did you consider a sloped face on the upstream side? I believe that this would redirect some
of those forces down to the ground to help anchor the dam with downforce added to its mass.

The block walls are 8" block? I think you mentioned that you put #3 bar in every other core, is that correct? Did you use reinforcement wire every few courses also?

Did you consider poured walls and if you dismissed them why.

Static forces such as pressures due to depth (head) are same irrespective of shape. Shape is involved with dynamic forces such as wave action. Very important if you expect surf!
