Not to rush ahead. How are you going to deal with the water coming off the roof at the cottage side? Maybe you already talked about this, sorry if so.

Thanks for the updates and pics!!!

Easiest way is just normal gutter off the carport roof with an edge trim. but am seriously considering doing a reverse gutter mounted on cottage side with a metal flashing for excess splashing.

Just too windy today, but I did partially assemble gutter for mauka (non cottage)side. Bet he wind knocked my work to the ground at least a dozen times. Hopefully nice enough tomorrow to install.

More progress
Able to get mauka gutter installed, except for end that will tie into tank. I used 3/4x51/2 pvc board for fascia. Mixed thoughts on that.

Downspout and tie-in to tank will be on this end.

Too windy to attempt placing roof panels, maybe tomorrow.

Thanks guys
Another wind / gusty day. A great time to go to HD and spend more money and wife’s errands of course.

Now is the time to dig a trench, install a drain tile and backfill with gravel. You will be glad you did. Even if you don't care about it rusting out, in short order water will start seeping in and you will have mud inside you building all the time.

When my daughter and I built our Barn that open drain is exactly what we did. All we did was dig a hole about 8 to 10 inches deep x12 wide trenching all the way around it. Then we laid that cheap roll 4 poly drain tubing in it and ended it at the lowest point in a couple of small dry wells. We had a bunch of pebble rock kicking about so we filled the entire trench just flush with that semi decorative rock. The barn sits at the base of a slope so the water runs right to it but we致e never had a drop get inside. Very simple cheap and effective. Easily dug by hand.
