Compact Track Loader, whos the best?

/ Compact Track Loader, whos the best? #141
I just pulled the trigger on this Cat 289D3XPS high flow. 2021 with 900 hours on it. I am currently having all of the debris kits put on it at the dealership. $71k out the door. It is worth every penny if you have plenty of work to do with it. I am selling my Deere tractor and implements, as there is only so much work you can do with it that a tractor is designed to do. My tractor has been basically idle for several years, except for bush hogging a couple of times a year on the farm. The CTL will get used every weekend.

Do they have options to protect the hydraulic lines inside of the tracks? This seems like a horrible design for anyone working in the woods.

Yep, that comes in one of the 4 different debris kits I purchased.

OK, I can tell you that I bought a new 249D3. The price I paid was 64000. I think I will like it, but I have not had time to figure it out, just to busy and it is still late winter. I will update as time progresses, but I will want to get used to it before I do. I want to thank all of you so much for all the help and interesting stories. I made the move now because I was not sure where the tariffs might lead, even though I like what Trump is doing and it is about time we stop the spending spree we have been on!

Extremely valuable information here! i am about to purchase a new compact track loader myself. Narrowed my search down to 4: due to local dealership availability for parts and service:
BOBCAT T66
KUBOTA SVL 75-3
JCB 270T
JOHN DEERE 317G
I own a Horse Ranch. So will primarily be used for loading/ unloading hay daily, pasture brush maintenance weekly, road maintainable monthly, and bucket and pallet use daily for odds and ends.
advice or recommendations?

You intend on bush hogging a field weekly? How big a field? How long is your road?

I've got about 7 miles of roads and 1750 acres divided into many different pastures- really info you didn't need- I said I'd be doing weekly- doesn't matter if i have 10 acres or 10,000 acres. Didn't ask for advice on my pasture or road maintenance, asked for advice on track loader.

So, any of those will handle manure, but check lift/dump height vs what you're loading it into. I would spec out each, and compare the complete package price, warranty, ect. I would feel good with the JD and Kubota. JCB, as long as you have a long term local dealer, I would Consider, but parts May not be fast? I'm not ruling out Bobcat, but based on pretty much everyone i personally know, have moved away from them.

Oh, also, since we are talking primarily manure; i would price rollers/spockets/ect, and if one make is Significantly more for those, i would rule it out. Manure (maybe not so much horse, but i know chicken litter) is rough on stuff like rollers/sprockets/ect

You're the one that brought up pasture and road maintenance. I assumed you were going to use the track loader to accomplish same.
I'll be sure not to offer advice.

I’ve had a Gehl for the last 20 years and they are strong and dependable

My buddy just bought a Kubota SVL97, uses it for land clearing and mowing, he really likes it.

It replaced a Bobcat T180

I purchased a Gehl CTL60 new in 2001, haven’t had a bit of trouble with it.

Been out of the market for a while, but I'll throw one that is nowadays overlooked, but I would look at first, the Gehl. There machines seem less tech heavy, and atleast 10 years ago, really were very good, if not that popular machines.
Agree. The older (2000 somethings) CTL's from Gehl are little tanks. I have an 06 CTL60 that was a rental machine for the first half of its life. I've had it for about 15 years now and it's still running strong. Solid Yanmar engine. Super easy to work on, relative to the type of machine it is and the absence of high tech gadgetry. Over the years I had to do the maintenance and repair myself 90% of the time. I was able to figure out or find answers for just about every issue I came across. Also, if I am not mistaken, the Takeuchi, Mustang, and Gehl are all basically the same machines in that era but with different paint. So I was able to go to my local Takeuchi dealer for parts and they fit right on. If you've got the budget for a newer machine, that's great. But I can't speak to what's out there today~!

Kind of a simple question, and I could not find anything like this so I am posting a new link. I would like to know opinions and facts about the overall reliability and design features in your opinions and if you have unbiased comparisons. Thanks a bunch, this is a great place to expand one's knowledge!
Look at Ventrac, they're made in Ohio, same company the made Steiner, One hellava machine
