cold starting

I went and bought the manual and it says that the tractor has an intake air heater which I was not aware of, and obviously not using. I'll try it this weekend with the heater and let you know what happens. I'm guessing that's all it is because once it gets going, and warmed up, it runs like a champ as it always has so far.

Seriously, I hope this solves the problem. It certainly can't hurt..

I'm puzzled though.. I can't imagine buying a tractor without the manual. When I bought mine, I took the manual home and studied it cover to cover for 3 days before the tractor ever showed up.

One thing that I've never understood... why did they mess with the gear shift pattern on the JD4300? *Everybody* knows that low gear should be left front, etc. They had to go and change it, and after 4-5 years of using this tractor, I still have to think for a second about where that darned 4-speed shift lever should be! What was the point???

What do you know! With the heater it fired right up quick as it ever has. It's amazing how much better things work when you pull your head out of your @$$! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
