Cloudy Headlight Lenses

There is a company that sells car detailing products that makes a kit that includes a clear coat you spray after you clean them. Its called Griot's Gargage and you can order stuff on line. We used it on my sons car and its holding up well.

The key is adding a clear coat after you polish, buff and clean them. That is what makes it last. Just buy some acrylic clear coat in a spray can and you'll be surprised at easy it is.

Any good toothpaste will work as well. But without a buffer, you are not going to remove a lot of the pits and dings that are causing the issue at a very small level.

Give it a try on any of the paste types, not gel types.

Brake fluid also works.

Of course time will play into the equation and YMMV.

Went down this path and after talking to many, including respectable auto body shops, decided to replace the headlight assemblies on my Ford F150 and my spouse's Acura MDX. As others have said the assemblies are weather sealed such that lenses only are impossible to find and would be a pain to separate from you old assemblies...low temp oven required. When replacing the assemblies you can go with a non-CAPA headlight as long as it is a reputable manufacturer like TYC.

That's the certification I couldn't think of when I posted! If I recall RockAuto sells CAPA, NSF and no cert.

I heard tooth paste,scrub w/tooth brush than rinse...I've yet to try it.

I gotta couple 94 T100 pickups.Every year I buff them out and keep them clean and clear. A little effort goes a long way. Nothing is forever. Once you get them cleaned up good, just keep them on a maintenance schedule.
