I have a set of worklights I'm going to install on my CK30 and I'm looking for a place to tap into the wiring.

Anyone know what the white connector in this picture is used for? Amd just as important, what's on the other end? I haven't had time to really look it over to good yet but I noticed this connector and another one just like it on the other side.

That connector is for the back-up light, which you don't have. On the right side you'll find two wires with male/female "bullit" connectors (hot and ground), they are for the work light which is only "hot" when the key is on. The other connection I haven't checked.

By back up light do you mean a rear worklight? Or is it wired to come on when the machine is travelling only in reverse?

So the connector on the other side provides +12VDC and a ground? I have a couple nice Carling rocker switches (IP68) that I can mount in the dash plastic. Is there a connector located in the dash that is on the other end of these wires?

I guess I need an electrical diagram.

The back-up light is the "factory" installed one which is wired to a switch on the "forward/reverse" shuttle control lever (if gear drive). The wires on the right are wired to the fuse box which is hot when key is on. The Kioti work light has a "toggle" switch on the light for off/on.

Since the factory wiring schematic is in Digested Korean, it is probably best to use a 12 v test light to figure out your key on power sources and/or power on when lights on sources

The nice thing about symbols are they usually mean the same thing regardless of native tongue.

I'm hoping to avoid tracing each wire out (that I'm interested in) and having to tear into a harness. I had to do that on my previous tractor (grey Kubota) and cussed the whole time I did it.

Is there a service manual available and does it have the schematic in it? I'll have to shoot Jeff an email to find out.

Yes there is a service manual, yes it has a schematic, but that doesn't help you figure out where the connectors are.... just that they exist. :( There is a 15amp fuse that is set aside for aux lighting, it powers a connector to the right of your rear hydraulic connectors, comes on when key is on.

Started installing the lights tonight (FINALLY!).

Just so you know I have a parts manual and shop manual lined up but they won't be here for a couple of days.

I ran into something interesting while testing the connectors at the rear of the machine. There are actually 4 drops there. Two have block style connectors but one of them only has one wire. It is located on the right side of the machine. I'm assuming this is for the worklight and it's the power lead? Does anyone know if the Kioti worklight grounds through the mechanical fastener (bolt) that attaches it to the tractor sheet metal?

The two wire connector is for the back up light as stated above. It's located on the left side of the machine (see picture above).

The other two drops are the cylindrical pin type. I got to thinking and maybe these are for ROPS mounted work lights? They are hot with the key on.

If anyone has a schematic scanned could you post it please? I'm an impatient SOB! I have digging to do and with the temps as warm as they have been in the evenings I'd like to take advantage of them.

Thanks in advance.

Hey PAB-OH,

I found the same things on mine. I would like to know once you get it up and running the size of the lights you put on. Watts and Amps, and wire size and if you got them of the shelf at NAPA or similar. I was hoping to use some off the shelf off road lights I see at NAPA or even Wal-mart. But not sure on the sizing of the lights and gage on the wire that would be needed. I am not much on electronics. but I thought if its a 12volt system and a 15amp fuse, you can use up to 180watts of lights. or is my math all wrong ?

aloha

Well I haven't made much progress on the lights. I ended up digging last night for a while so I could get to 50 hours on the clock. I did first service today (after I went to the Dr. to get a piece of metal out of my eye  )

I did get some pics of the connectors while I was waiting for the oil to drain out of all the holes. ( We REALLY need to start drilling in ANWR). I found another connector laying up near the top of the transmission also. I'm not sure what it's used for yet, it's black and round. I can't tell how many wires go to it yet.

Hope to have the manuals next Wend. and I can clear some of this up.

BTW, you're math is correct. (3) 55W bulbs will draw about 13.8A on a 12V system. I think 10 ga. is recommended for up to 15A but each light will only draw about 5A, 14 ga. should be fine. I've personally used 16 ga. for the individual runs with no issues. Better safe than sorry though.

Finally some progress!! Only a little though.

I hooked the rear worklight into the bullet connectors on the left. Nice little light, Hella 55W. I was going to switch the light but if I'm using headlights either at night or during the day for visibility I figure I should have the rear light on too.

For the forward worklights I'm going to fab up a bracket and mount them to magnets (105 lb pull). I'll hook into the bullet connectors on the right that are hot when the key is on and switch those so I can turn them on and of as needed.

I still haven't decided where to put the switch. I like the idea of putting it on the dash with the rest of controls but I'm eyeing something on the right hand side near the 3PH/Aux valve control levers.

Magnets should be in tomorrow so hopefully I'll have some nice night shots tomorrow evening.

If you wire the rear-facing lights so they are on when the headlights are on, it will be blinding to anything that is following you as you drive forward.

Agree. But the rear worklight is the only one I have wired to come on with the headlights and much like headlights of oncoming cars in the opposite lane it is mounted relativelu low on the vehicle and pointed down. It is pointed down even more than passenger vehicles headlights since I have it aimed at the rear implement.

I may end up putting a switch on it anyway. Just to have the ability in case I do ever need it.

More progress!!!

I got the ROPS work lights wired up and mounted to the magnets. Works like a charm! I can not believe how bright it is. I'll have no problems mowing into dusk/night or digging in the back yard now!

I couldn't decide where to put the switch so I ended up mounting it on the plastic cover for the 3PH control and aux. controls. Looks pretty good I though. There's a hole in the body panels where the linkage for the 3PH lever exits so I ran the wires through there and picked up the retainers for the main wiring harness to hold them in place. I still have some clean up work to do but for I put everything in place all permanent like I wanted to be sure it worked.

I snapped some pictures but they simply don't do these lights justice. Very powerful. Just to be sure I wasn't going to have problems with the magnets shifting I ran the trash down my now very bumpt gravel drive and back up again in M range. After half a mile on bone jarring travel they didn't move any. Yeaaa!

Now it's back to my blade rebuild! http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/121875-rhino-lr500-tear-down-rebuild.html

I've got plow bolts coming in to the local Fastenal store tomorrow morning. I'll blast it and paint it the next couple of nights or over the Holiday weekend.

I was wondering what that light was I saw on the horizon, it was your tractor.

Great job.

The connector on the harness laying on top of the transmission, under the seat, is for a 7-pin trailer plug. There is a KIOTI kit for adding the trailer plug. Check with your dealer if you are interested.

Ahh, NICE! The thought of putting a trailer plug on mine crossed my mind. I didn't want to have to splice into anything though. Now I think it's go! I can pull my little landscape trailer now. I have no idea why I would on the road though. But still, it's doable.

Thanks for the tip MichiganIron.
