I have an outdoor wood boiler. After 8 years the Taco 009 circulator died. I am looking to find an energy efficient replacement. The height it has to pump is around 14 feet, boiler to the basement. I use a heat exchanger so I don't need to pump up three stories. I'm just trying to lower the electric bill some. Anyone know of a good pump for this?

So the Taco 009 is 1/8 hp and draws up to 1.4 Amps at 115 volts or approximately 160 watts.
To use less energy you would need a smaller motor.
Grunfos has some as small as 1/15 hp.

Unless you pay a super high per KWH rate, I don't see how 160 watts intermittent running would impact you electric bill all that much. The Taco I have is a 3 speed model and I usually run it on low.
The circulator is not intermittent unfortunately, this is on a outdoor wood boiler circulating 24/7 . It adds up over time, so now that I need to change it I'm looking at the options for a more efficient one.

+1 on the Grundfos.
Since you are running a loop, it really isn't up 14', it is about how many gpm that you need/want. Faster will equilibrium the temperatures sooner, but may be less efficient, depending on your heat exchangers.

Not sure they will work for your application you would need to check the pump specs but we replaced Taco 007 (and a different model) & are now using the Taco Viridian pumps on our radiant system... super quiet & efficient pump... the ones we have max out at .54 AMPS / .44 Watts
Well I found it Taco Viridian 1816 variable speed 4-44 watts. I even got a cartridge to rebuild it when it goes. I got lucky that it died late march and not in February at - 5* , prime time for my OWB to break down. For now I'll fix it and shut down for the season.
