Ive burned through 3 little two stroke augers and im getting tired of fiddling with teeny carburetors. My kubota has auxiliary hrdraulics front and back, and the soil at my place has virtually zero rock. Why couldnt I make a simple bracket to go on my qc backhoe bucket and power my existing auger bits directly with a hydraulic motor of some sort? My hydraulic output for the backhoe thumb has to be at least as powerful as a 50cc two stroke and I'm not setting power poles, just need an 8" auger to spin 3' or so in sandy soil with the occasional vein of caliche or chalky sandstone.
Could a hydraulic pump be modified for this job, like, say a power steering pump? Some other junkyard option?
Anybody tried this?
