sorry, but i was in Tazwell. yes, any old snowplow will work, but the bigger and larger you make it, the more you are as we say in snowplwing "pushing the world" rather than the snow.

the CSP worked great yesterday' eventhough i had left it for a week, abandoned a t the clue factory, at charli's place in MD. the only improvement i think i will try to figure out is: to use either two or a shorter piston. the reason is that i can't quite get the same angle to the left as i do to the right.

in some of the places we had up tp 9 inches of snow ... boy did i get seat time ... 3:30 am to 7:00 pm ... i want a better seat ... i had to ***** a little bit ... you guys know me by now.

again, the guys with the pick-ups were amazed of how much i could move do to the fact that i can push without much effort and manoeuvring in two directions ....no empty back-up trips with the green beasty ... money was good too /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

have a good weekend

Well Charlie, Mr. M.R., Sedgewood et al, /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
less than 9 month and we are back at it. the cause is Washington D.C., that is Charlie is sending me and my Cheap Snow plow more business. as you can see, we are up early, to check equipment and fuel some more machinery. the snow is about an hour away, in N. Delaware.
the newest news is that we added a Safeway store to our customer and the old green machine will get another workout.
last night at 5pm we moved our leafplow and blower buggy pt attachment into the barn.
don't know when i am back to update you of the CSP second year performance.

Bring it on! I'm ready to test my newly improved ESP (Expensive Snow Plow). Of course the tire chains I ordered from Gempler's haven't arrived yet. I just knew ordering chains would bring on the snow! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

We want pictures of that white stuff curling gracefully over the canopy as you hotfoot it across the Safeway lot,

Yeah, looks like you east coasters are gonna get hit pretty hard. We had a wet slushy snow all day. Only amounted to an inch or so on the grass and melted off the streets pretty fast. Supposed to be sunny the rest of the weekend. Good luck with the green machine! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Our weather forecast 6- 15 inches in our area , 10:00pm we already have about 8 inches on the ground and it is still coming down . It is to be ending by noon tomorrow. I will probably wait until tomorrow morning to plow my driveway and then I will probably use the Agco Allis with the back blade to plow as I do not have a snow blade for the power trac. I will use the power trac to plow path to my outside woodburner and do the sidewalk.

Ernie,

How does that outside woodburner work. I've only seen them in magazines. How many cords of wood do you burn, does it include your hot water. Of course, also post how the PT does with the bucket clearing your path.

Our forecast has been updated a bit - Charlie, you scared yet or are you just "mowing" your snow?

.TODAY...SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES. SNOW ACCUMULATION OF AROUND 12 INCHES. HIGH IN THE LOWER 20S. NORTHEAST WIND 10 TO 15 MPH....GUSTING TO 30 MPH.

.TONIGHT...SNOW UNTIL MIDNIGHT THEN SNOW LIKELY AFTER MIDNIGHT. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 16 TO 24 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. LOW NEAR 20. NORTH WIND 10 TO 15 MPH.

About three inches on the ground and snowing lightly,

Duane:
I love my outside woodburner I have used it for about 12 years. I use it as my only heat source for my house and it does heat the hot water for the house. I probably use anywhere from 4 to 6 cords of wood per winter , depending on how cold the weather is and the type of wood I burn. I have 64 acres of property and about 56 acres of that is woods so I have very little cost for heating my home.
The power trac works real good in this snow with just the small bucket, the snow is the light powdery kind you just set the bucket with the lip slightly elevated and go till the snow starts coming up over the top of the bucket then veer off to the side and dump it. Just for the fun of it I took the pt up over the hill on my tram roads for about 1/2 mile to see how it would handle the snow tractionwise, did not use the bucket to plow. There is about 8 inches on the ground , the pt went up over the hill without any problem. I only have the turf tires and no chains. When I got back down to the house the front of the pt was covered with snow, the snow was deeper than the pt's ground clearance in some spots , no traction problems at all. That just goes to prove that the pt is one great little machine.

/ Cheap Snow Plow #55
Hey, Ernie. Sometimes I take my PT out in the yard just to see what it will go through. The deepest I've gone through is 12" last year and the turfs did just fine, but you are right... the front shelf ends up plowing the snow and packing it down the tunnel opening. I'm sure it would get stuck eventually, but mother nature hasn't given me the oportunity to try in 2 years /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You could trailer to the NE and help them out. Looks like they have the perfect conditions to high center. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

got one more property, for tomorrow. it is the second passage, only 3 inches more .... thats all ... CSP did well ... one more time, everybody was amazed .
the reason is, that for part of the snow storm i was a subcontractor. at first every body laughed at the gulf cart with an extended garden tractor (ON STEROIDS) snow plow but the little beasty shut every body up after some some 18 hours of keeping the walkways clean. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

remember that i had for about 300 hours where that counter just did not work properly ... so i must be quite a bit over 1000.

Observation:running the machine that many hours in one day seems to use more oil. the first day we did not stop for eleven hours not even during refueling and the second day 4,5 and 4,5 hours. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Hee hee! Sounds like a fun time on the Green Beasty. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hans,
Do you run the Rpm’s fairly high? I notice that when digging dirt I need higher Rpm’s which in turn burns more fuel. I never fill the tank completely full (7/8) but need to refuel after 4 to 5 hours of work.
