I have 3 lengths of chain for use with my tractor. A 20 ft. length of 5/16ths grade 7 logging chain and 2-25 ft. lengths of 3/8ths grade 7 chain. I'd like to cut at least 1 of the 25s down to a more workable size for use with my bucket hooks. 2-12's or 3-8s. I'll probably be using them to get logs out of the woods. I don't like to drag logs if I can avoid it as they get packed with dirt which is hard chainsaw chains.
I want to leave the 20 alone just in case I need to pull my neighbor's Yanmar out of the snow.

I use 2 -7 ft chains most of the time, sometimes the 10 ft, and if I could remember where I put the 22 ft I might use it from time to time.

8' is a good length for a choker chain.

I cut a 20' chain into a 12' and 8'. They are nice but the 8' is almost too small for logging. If you have a large diameter log there's very little extra chain so it usually becomes an extension. Also having to different size chains for lifting things with the fel is good sometimes but not always. At times it would be nice to have two equal length chains. I would go two 9' chains and a 7'.
