Loader Chain hooks on loader

I don't understand why anyone would weld them on when they can bolt them on and they're just as strong or stronger depending on your welding ability or lack thereof.

Cost. Weld on is cheaper. About $5 for the hooks. and a few cents for the rod and electricity. Not counting the cost of the welder. But if you don't have a welder, then the bolt on is a good solution. Plus some of us like to have a welding project, and take some small measure of pride in welding them on straight (or not )

I was looking at the loader tonight and it has a pretty solid piece of metal all the way across the top of loader between the loader attachment pins. Not sure that the Kens grab hooks will work. They can't sit down behind the front top edge of loader like I see on the website. Can I just hook my chain to this plate on the la525?

Does your LA525 have the SSQA option or is your bucket pinned on? We have bolt on solutions for either style:

SSQA bucket using the regular hooks and clevis mounts (scroll down on the Kubota Page )


Or pin on style using the spacers:

Ken makes hooks with a piece of tube welded on that allows the hooks to sit up above the lip of the bucket. That's what I put on my tractor, which has the same loader as you. It's all on his website. He has models for different lip heights. Just measure your lip height and find the hook that matches. The kits include the right size bolts and everything you need.

The lip itself is not strong enough, so do not hook chains to it (not to mention that the size/shape of the lip is not right for any chain hooks I have ever seen).

Us Welder guys don't understand why anyone would bolt them on when they can be welded on so much easier and not have to worry about bolts coming loose or breaking depending on your bolting ability or lack thereof.

And you may have noticed that Ken uses weld on hooks on his bolt on pads. And does a really fine job of welding I might add.:thumbsup:

Perfect, and you can save a few bucks too since you can use the regular hooks.

Many dealers are selling this loader without the optional SSQA, I guess so they can advertise a lower price or out of simple ignorance.
