Case 580 Backhoes???

Guys/gals,
Can someone guide me to a web site that may help me understand what the letter means after the 580 on these backhoes? For instance, I've seen a "C", "E" and a "K" after the numeral 580. I was wondering does the letter mean different options on the hoe?

Any help sure would be appreciated.

Those were differnt model numbers for different years the C being the oldest.

As art writes, the letters determine date of production, and of course, the later letters have various upgrades. 580's were produced from (roughly) 1970-72, B 1973-1975, C 1976-1980, D 1981-1984, E 1985-1987, K 1988-1994, L 1995-2000. M-current production. These dates may be off bya year or so here and there.

in the early years, case also refered to them as CK ( Construction King) that's what they listed our '70 580 as in all thier technical manuals

You might also see a "S," which stands for super, for example, a 580SE. Its just like a car, where you might have a GL or a GLX, one has more options, more hp, etc.

I think the Super models have turbos. My 580K doesn't, a friends 580L Super does.
