Free case 310 dozer. Sitting for 25 yrs, sunken into dirt floor, falling down barn in the woods. Cut our way in, used the crane to drag it out. Jump pack and a shot of ether and we drove it up and out and onto trailer. Owner, who gave it away, said he hadnt seen it run since he was 9. He is 35. 1100 hrs with working meter. Parked the hydraulics didn’t leak down after 48 hrs. Time to add batteries, change fluids etc. looks like it will be a fun addition

Extra unused standard bucket to boot tho I like the 4:1
The crane truck w liftgate was handy, I just got it on the road. (That was last months good deal)

Excellent score - nice to see some old iron being brought back to life. That side of the roof looked solid; at least it had air cover all those years....

Somehow, I have trouble envisioning today's equipment sitting for 26 years and "firing right up"

It has a bit of blow by and smoke under heavy load. Runs like a top tho. I imagine the rings are mostly toast. I will run it a bit this summer and see and plan for a winter rebuild

Congratulations, that's awesome! I've never really seen such a contraption... since it's like a cross between a bulldozer and a backhoe, could you call it a "hozer"?

Could be rebuild time.... would that have run non-detergent crankcase oil originally ?

I'd be inclined to run it some more this summer too.....at least one more oil change.

New nickname, i like it

Re; running
I ran it 2 hrs today and also power washed the grime off of it. I am gonna change the oil again as there was some crud in the pan and I want to see if I can get it out. At idle just some huffing from the breather, only in top gear to I get some smoke from exhaust but it does appear to be black not blue. Will see,

I do have a battery question
It is positive ground and the negative of one terminal runs to the negative of a second battery then onto the starter, electrics etc. the first battery has the positive to ground, second= nada

Seems odd that second battery is only hooked at one terminal?

Sounds like the second battery is not in use... It can't work without both terminals connected.

The Case listing I could find showed a gasoline motor - is that what you have ? Would work in diesel too, but I'd try a dose of Seafoam in the fuel and also crankcase oil for sludge. Might just take some more exercise to clear out the "cobwebs".

Sounds like somebody had been monkeying with the wiring. System is 12volt ? Could be just a dual battery setup (two in parallel), or are the batteries 6 volt ? May not be as bad as sorting out old RV wiring that has been modified..... but may take some detective work....

You are still using the boostpack to start is my guess....

It is diesel
Has twin battery boxes, does not appear molested so I am not sure?

Agree w the sea foam
It makes plenty of power and cycles well though the rpm range.
Upper range will keep the mosquitos away I guess
I love having a dozer with a gas pedal(has both hand and foot pedal throttle control).
