Hi,

I had them boring in the wood above the garage door. Used the foaming wasp killer.

Shoved the nozzle up in the hole and pressed the button until I had foam coming out wherever there was even a little hole. 1 of them tried to escape thru the hole and died blocking it. The rest were history.

Foaming wasp spray worked like a charm.

Good luck

I have the identical story. This was several years ago and they haven't been back.
Mike

cowboy357 - Just wanted to let you know I took my own advice and bought one. I have wasps and yellow jacket bees that hang around my hummingbird feeders that are attached to the deck. They can intimidate some hummingbirds so when I go sit on the deck in the evening I take it along and ZAP the boogers. What a thrill to hear the crack of electrocution. I got 4 wasps as my best score for one evening.

I get a few good fly swatters or tennis rackets and get a couple of kids to help. They enjoy it. Then I tap the board they are in with a hammer a few times. They start buzzing like mad and head for the holes. When they come out we zap them.

It's environmentally friendly, fun for the entire family, and gives the kids some practice at tennis. :)

We have a brick house but used to have wood fascia board, hubby replaced it with hardi board, no more carpenter bees.

We used the tennis racket approach before also. I offer the grandkids a bounty of $1 each. Keeps the kids busy and kills off lots of the pests.
