image.jpgthink I got it attached.
I can't get the end of the cylinder out though.

It is where the hose(#10) connects to the cylinder. The fitting snapped off of the cylinder. I wasn't sure if this is a threaded piece it pressed in or what.
Thanks for the replies, guys.

If it's the eye on the end of the rod just grind it up and weld it back on some times the the weld on them isn't that great. I've welded a couple of them on for individuals snow blades and they never had it come apart again. I think a snow blade hooking a rock or something with the corner would have a lot more shock load than a cylinder rod end.

I can't tell either.

If you drill and thread the hole you'll have your cylinder full of shavings.

I'd probably try to find a weld-in fitting. Clean off the paint. Weld it on and instantly pour water over it to prevent damage to the seal gland.

Are you sure your cylinder end screws out??

I'm sure the end doesn't screw out. It has a c-clip on it and I removed that. The gland will only slide out about 1/2" though.

I helped my neighbor with a JD FEL cylinder a month ago. Had to remove the outer clip, then shove the gland into the barrel an inch or more. That exposes an internal ring that can then be removed. then the gland slips out of the barrel.

I thought this too. I shoved the gland back to where I could see the internal ring on the gland through the broken fitting hole. I didn't see how to remove it. It just moved with the gland.

The internal ring should be embedded in the barrel, not the gland.

Hmmmm. Can you post a pic of the end of the barrel? Push the gland in and take a shot that way too please. Not sure what's going on??

If the gland nut does indeed screw out, I think you are gonna need more than a pair of 10" channelocks.

And I agree, I cannot tell either weather it is supposed to be a threaded in fitting, or a weld on piece. Pic is a bit blury.

What does the end of the hose/fitting look like that broke off from there?

Google < JD hydraulic cylinder schematic >. Go thru the images till you find your cylinder schematic and enlarge it. Should show how all goes together.
