Oil & Fuel BX25 first service 50HR

Gidday from Aus . 4 anyone interested did first 50 HR service on BX25 Kubota. Changed eng oil and filter using gen Kubota filt and 15w/40 Kub oil . 4ur info eng took 3.2 litres exact which is 100ml more than owner man spec. Decided to change tranny oil ,put new hyd filt on and removed and cleaned pick up screen . Yep some metal bits on screen consistent with new machine . Used Kubota UDT hyd/trans oil and can say it took 12.6 litres manual spec is 11.6 litres. So far have had no problems with this new first tractor and it performs perfectly. Thanks for the actual fluid amounts used for your refills. Factory fill amounts are usually adequate, but, like yourself, I always custom fill on all of my machinery.

I've only got about 8 ours on my BX25 so far, but only because the weather has been either cold, rainy, or snowy since I got it. The weather, of course, has been much better on days when I have to go to work. I already bought oil filters and a gallon of Rotella T6 for the oil change later this Spring. When I need to do the transmission fluid I plan to use the sudt2 from Kubota unless I can find better. That change is not needed until 400 hours, but I' m sure I'll do the first one a bit earlier. I haven't even had a chance to get under the tractor and locate the various drain/fill plugs yet. I really enjoy doing my own maintenance and it gives me a chance to spot something not right before it becomes a problem. Enjoy your new BX!

I did the transmission fluid at 50 hours on my BX 1860 and if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't have bothered. The fluid that came out looked just like the new stuff that went in.

Thanku 4 interest Deano ,Paulemar, TripleR ,and George the Beagle . Those threads were well worth a read and i read them all . U boys have got a good dose of tractor fever like me ! Sure wish SUDT oil was available in Australia cause i would use it . Due to warm climate 30f to 100f i guess Kubota reckons UDT is sufficient . its all done now . U may be interested to know that i fitted nut washer and bolt to extra hole on left and right front of operator floor panel . This stopped most of the "creaking" taking place when getting on or off tractor . whilst carrying out service had good look underneath especially at tranny fan and fan guard ! Fan good and this BX25 has steel guard that appears toprotect well . bring this up as i know missing blades is a recurring problem. wondering if ice and snow build up causes all blades to shear ? Seems to me sticks grass or bracken would unevenly damage blades not shear them all ? The detective in me makes me want to solve this one !What do u blokes reckon ? Our dealer doesn't even stock SUDT as our climate is not extreme here in Missouri. I have also used Ambra, Case, Sinclair and others with no adverse effects. I am comfortable using any good quality lubricant.

The newer model BXs have improved HST protection, mine is an older model, so I bought Bro Tek.

Change oil often is the secret i reckon as long as type and vis and rating R good . ASsoon as my BX25 eng oil starts to discolour i am going to change it . Small cap sump is cheap to change . I intend to change hyd Tran oil every 200 hrs as my use is often in 90 to 100 deg heat .

I am gunna have to be careful in grass and stuff . Mabe i need to fit Bro-tek plate .Have not seen one yet but will look it up on the internet . Just imported a Kubota mail box . Can only get them in the USA from Kubota . They look fantastic . I tracked it this morning and it hit Australia yesty . Its painted Kubota orange . Should look good out front of my old cottage ! I just got my Bro-Tek skid plate last week. I haven't installed it yet, but was so afraid of trashing the tranny fan that it was one of the first things i bought. As I'm pushing over lots of brush and saplings right now and saw some potential fan busters left standing, I thought it would be a prudent item to buy. I still have the mower mounted so I'm somewhat protected, but I'll be removing it soon to narrow the tractor working width for use with the loader/backhoe.

You'll actually find it's because they can't be bothered ; just like all the
accessories they don't keep either . Use JD 10w30 HyGard trans oil.
That's the closest to SUDT . UDT is re packaged 20w and not the factory
recommended multiblend. The revs go 250rpm faster with the correct oil.
The quicker flow rate is important for small HST pumps , which is why JD
source the correct stuff , but then they give a proper warranty too ; not like
the Kubota Aus. tossers ! I get all my non-liquid requirements sent from
CA. Most of Australia's temp isn't any different to large parts of the US , Spain ,
Africa , South America ; and they can get SUDT !
You'll also find their engine oil is base rubbish ; go to Super Cheap Auto and get
some high detergent Castrol RX super ; designed for low pressure fuel pump
/ high soot mini engines .

Have you bought spacers for the rear wheels to increase track and stability
when using the loader on a backhoe machine ?

Bruere, I assume that you did your own servicing, speaking of warranty check your warranty booklet coz mine says that the tractor has to be serviced at least once every 12 months by an authorised dealer to maintain coverage, also use genuine parts ... fluids can be Kubota or equivalent spec ... that's mine understanding anyway

You'll get a much improved cut with the wider rears . Less flapping
from side to side of the outer blades --- the Mohican effect , as I call it !

Then you'll undoubtedly be changing it every ten hours. Diesel engine oil darkens much more quickly than in a gas engine. Don't let it bother you.
