Guys,

Have a BX24 that has a cracked steering wheel hub. Got a new part from Messick's. Looks the same.

Got the steering wheel nut off (7/8" socket was close enough). What kind of tool is used to get the wheel off of the shaft? No room to get anything under the steering wheel from the outside. All of the pulley pullers I have are too large.

Guidance?

Thank you,

Mike

I don't know if this will work on your tractor or not, but on boats where I had no puller that would fit I can usually get the wheel loose by pulling back on the wheel (an extra pair of hands helps) while tapping on the end of the steering shaft with a hammer (like you're trying to knock it out of the hub.) Never caused any damage doing this, but I would thread the nut loosely back on the shaft to protect it and don't hit it so hard you peen the end.
