Bx24 brake Problem/question

The only think that makes me hesitate by taking it to the dealer is that the pedal since i adjusted the linkage seems to be ok. The pedal has the right amount of free travel, then it grabs and holds. What I dont like is the fact that since the incident (loosing the pedal) I have had to take up all the slack in the linkage adjuster. I will put a call in to the dealer and see what they say. If i make the 2hour round trip to just have him look at the pedal and re-adjust linkage, I may just loose my cool badly. I would have been better off not having any brakes this indecission is killing me

I wish I could provide mor insight- but at over 500 hrs I havent had to adjust it yet, I moved it a short distance with brake on couple times. :ashamed: So with you adjusting it all the way tells me it might be time to have it looked at. I just don't see any hurry though. I'd wait till snowfall is over or a forecast of no snow for a week would be ideal time to be looked at.

On my BX2350, I've had to adjust mine twice. I'm pretty sure that at least a couple of times the brake pedal was left on and the machine was used. One time was by my 16 year old son and I think he did a fairly large amount of mowing with it. I've got some adjustment left in mine, but not much. Mine has about 300 hours on it.

Sounds like you may have pushed a lot of snow with the brake on, then, when you went to change gears, you released the brake and found that you had worn down the pads. Adjust the brakes, don't run with them on again, and they will last you a lifetime.

I am leaning towad your solution, with one added twist, I am wondering if there is a way of putting in some kind of warning light to indicate the brakes are on.

A twelve volt sealed paddle/limit switch from Square D that is a normally closed contact and attached to the frame of the tractor with a 12 volt indicator light mounted near the dash or directly above or on the limit switch itself would work wonders.:thumbsup:
