Hi,
I am going to look at a BX22 which has 50 hrs and is said to be in "as new" condition. How much do the loader controls and ease of removal differ? What else is there? Does it still have cruise control? What is something like this worth? I have found used BX23's with 200+/- hrs for $13k asking. Thanks!

Paul

The loader valve is better on the BX23 and if there is a choice, I would go with the newer machine vs. the older one, even if the hours of service are more. The machines are guaranteed by number of months of service, not number of hours, so even though the newer machine has more hours, it also has a longer warranty. Neither the BX22 or the BX23 have cruise control available for them. With very few exceptions, they are both identical machines outside of the loader issue.

Mr. Junk:

You and I have the 22. When I purchased my machine, I got the upgraded valve (four-way vs. three way?) for the FEL. My valve stays on the tractor when the FEL is removed. If pncmathias is looking at a 22 with the upgraded valve, I think that the only difference would be some extra safeties on the seat of the BX-23. I THINK!

You have to have one of the very last BX22's to be made then. Mine was delivered in October and it has the old style of valve. The older BX23's have the BX22 engine, but I believe that the newer BX23's have the later engine that doesn't accommodate the engine block heater. You are correct on the seat switch. Junk....

I should have been clearer. The valve that I have was an upgrade to the tractor. It was swaped-out by the dealer for a cost of about $70.00. My salesman said the four-way valve, if bought seperetly would be about $450.00.

Do you have the new design valve that comes with the BX23 or is it still the type that came with the BX22? I know that the 3 way vs. 4 way valve is about a $75 difference. I believe that the 3 way is no longer available with the BX23 since they went to the new design. I don't know what they have done with the rest of the BX series tractors.

Only the BX23 has the valve that stays on the tractor when the FEL is removed. If you want the valve on the tractor when the FEL is removed, then you have to remove it from the FEL after the FEL is removed and reinstall it on the tractor. This is a royal pain to do. I intend to make modifications to my tractor to alleviate this nuisance of poor Kubota design.

Thanks for the input. I think I am going to go the route of a new BX23. The price difference is just not there. Thank You!

I don't want to beat this to death, but when I said that I had the older style of valve, I ment that is is not as "pretty" as the BX23 four-way valve.

My valve STAYS on the tractor when the FEL comes off. I have either four or five Parker series 60 style of couplers that attach to the FEL. I don't have to remove the valve from the FEL and reattact it to the tractor to use the stick.

I hade the BX2751 quick hitch and the hoses hook directly to to it for the Hydro cylinder operation. (Only have the frame. Mrs. KeyBal figured out I was about to buy more attachments and put her size 18 foot down)

Sorry for the confusion.

I didn't want to beat this to death either, but I sure would appreciate a picture of what you have. I am totally confused by your description. Your last description sounds like it is a BX23 style loader. I am wondering if when they made the change for you, that they might have changed the loader and the valve to give you the 4 way valve, with a later style tractor. I looked into purchasing the new design valve, but the cost was out of sight.... about $1200 from what I remember.
Does your loader valve look like this picture? This is the new design valve that stays on the tractor when you take the loader off.

I was trying to figure out a diplomatic way out of this, but there isn't any. I was 100% wrong.

I went to the office Saturday to get the digital camera, came home and started taking pictures of the FEL valve from about a dozen different angles.

I then decided to take the FEL off and show you how the valve stayed on the tractor, until it came off with the FEL. At that point, it was AW s***, Junk was right.

Since it has been at least a year since I took the FEL off, I didn't remember that I had to remove the valve assembly from the FEL and remount to the tractor to use the other attachments.

I'm sorry. I should have checked before I shoot off my fingers!

That is OK...... it isn't a matter of being right or wrong, but just educating ourselves as to what we have and what is out there. One thing that I can tell you for certain, crow needs a good dose of salt and pepper to be tasty enough to eat much of it. I know from experience. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
