I'm reinstalling backhoe after using three point lift and can't get hydraulics on backhoe unit operating to allow bachoe unit to mate with tractor. I've got the hoses connected and was successfully starting to raise the backhoe unit to allow the tractor to back into final position, when I could not get the out riggers or boom to move anymore. The front end loader appears to be working but I can't move any of the cylinders on the backhoe. I suspect I'm getting hydraulic fluid to the backhoe but not back to the pump. I've tried decoupling and recoupling the hoses. I've checked the "buttons" inside the couplings and fluid comes out when they are depressed. Any ideas for troubleshooting?

can you hear the relief kicking in? or did the hydraulic fluid on tractor suddenly get real low as soon you pushed it into the BH hoses and such? Be sure you check it when its cold- this way the bubbles wont show a false reading if the oil level is below the intake flow tube in tractor.

Didn't hear any click. I topped off the fluid. Could there be a problem with a coupling on return line from backhoe to tractor? Maybe foreign material in fitting or line? Is there some way to check for this?

Determined that the backhoe was indeed receiving hydraulic fluid from the tractor by depressing button at the bottom of the coupling on supply side of tractor (this turned out to be the hose on the left side) and starting the engine. While troubleshooting the return side hose coupling (right side hose) we removed the coupling half that was threaded onto the tractor and snapped the two coupling halves together on the return hose from the backhoe. We then briefly started the tractor, verifying that the hydraulic fluid flowed through the assembled coupling halves which were not connected to anything on the coupling side normally connected to the tractor.

When we reassembled the couplings and hoses and started the tractor, everything was working! We suspect some foreign material was present in the return hose coupling and when we squirted hydraulic fluid through the two halves of the assembled but disconnected coupling, the debris was ejected.

IIRC, there 3 hoses from the backhoe to the tractor. All 3 need to be connected CORRECTLY. If you get them crossed, it will not work. Check your OP manual. It should show everything.
