Gettin' ready to round me up some sorta 42" hog for my BX, an I knew I would need some weight up front.
I had a 1" by 4" by 78" piece of cold roll steel laying around that was left over from a welding/fab job I did 15 years ago. Finally found a use for it, in 6-13" pieces, 2-1/2"x8" bolts an nylok nuts an 90 pounds later, waalaa......

Good job. That ought to keep her from rearing up.

Yea, these dang 42" mowers are higher than a cats butt. But I don't want to go cheap and a 48 incher either. A 42" is a good size for the BX1800 IMO. I had a new ford boomer TC18 a few years back an a 48" cutter. It was all that little engine could do to pull the tractor an run the brush hog too. Thats why I think I'll go 42" this time, since the tractor width is already 42" also.

Bush hog SQ142 $1,635
Woods RCC42 $1,350
Land Pride RCR 1542 $1,300

Woods had the heaviest metal out of the 3
