Please provide some estimate of the amount of "stuff" you need or want to get rid of and keep under future control and also how much time you want to spend now and into the future.I have ongoing needs to pull garbage trees around the property to keep things neat and have been slacking off on this to the point where I really need to start attacking this. We're talking about small trees up to maybe 2-3" max and clumps of small stuff mainly, buckthorn, poplars, basswood, and other misc junk/weeds. I haven't used one of these before and it looks like 2 main styles: 1. the Pincher style, and the Chain loop style, like the pics below
I personally use the backhoe with thumb and pluck out everything up to 6" dia. but you have other choices such as a quick attach set of tree jaws.
These rely on the FEL curl function so loader arms sit on ground and you curl up to pull out unwanted stuff.
Some suggested sites to give idea on renting an attachment:

I've never used choker chain or a pinch type thingy since they are both time consuming and the pinch type thingy only closes under load. How as a one person operation are you going to affix it to a tree and then walk back to tractor without thingy falling off trunk?
Hope this helps.
