Users of a B2765 plow beware. This fall I purchased the 60" snow blade and quick hitch setup for my B2920. Used all winter here in SE WI with very good success. Until yesterday. Somehow I managed to clip the right edge of the blade on a chunk of frozen gravel and it shock loaded the angle ram on the and blew the end out.

The ram end is held together not by a threaded end, but by a snap ring. It deformed the end of the tube when the end blew out. Seems to be a cheesy/cheap way to build cylinder. I had the trip mechanism set to the loose side, so the way I clipped the ice/gravel ball must have been perfect lol.

The cylinder from kubota, which I found online, is priced at $601. Very pricey I think for such a cheaply made cylinder.

I will calling my local dealer tomorrow to hopefully have this warrantied. Snow is still flying!

Was a cushion valve installed between the angle cylinders and control valve?

Proper plow setups have these to by-pass excessive pressure from hitting obstructions in your path while plowing, preventing a.............Boooooooom

No cushion valve installed. The hydraulic lines come right out of the joystick valve directly to the single angle cylinder and lift cylinder. It should have either a stronger single cylinder or dual angle cylinders I think. It did not take much of a bump to blow the end off.

I'm sure you could get a cheaper cylinder, elsewhere.
$600 for such a small cylinder is ridiculous.

Hopefully your spring was set to trip. When I got my plow last year the dealer had the spring settings for "bull doze" not snow plowing......just saying

If the dealer won't warranty it and I don't think he will, get to a hydraulic shop with the busted cylinder. They should be able to get you a cylinder that is way better and cheaper, too.

The blade was set to trip, but now I set it as light as it goes. The dealer did not do the install, I did.

I talked to the dealer yesterday, dropped off the cylinder. The service manager said that they will warranty it. It should be here by Friday.

Cushion valves work if you have a pair cylinders......under extreme pressure (hitting objects with the blade) they by-pass the high pressure oil to the opposing side

If you have one double acting cyl like the OP (with one hyd rod) the displacement on each side of the cyl is different and doesn't work the same.....in order for that to be effective You'd need work port reliefs in the main control valve

prince has double relief valve you can add on . about 100 bucks .

:D. I keep telling myself it will all be over soon! I will look into that prince relief/cushion valve. I hope I can get my old cylinder back also. I am devising a way to make a repair on the old one.

On the bright side, the blade still has manual angle lock out so I can still use the blade. Just got a couple of inches of fresh snow. And It always drifts right where I don't want it to!

And just a side note, overall I'm a very satisfied B2920 owner. It pulls the mmm, 4' cutter, bx42 chipper, and the snow blade very well. The loader works great too.

oh...i see. i have only one valve.

That would be sweet if they will give you the old one for a spare......worth patching it up:thumbsup:

It's good you have the manual lock pins.....do you suppose they want you to use the pin to prevent cyl blow-out?

If you have the ktac insurance and your still making payments you could go that route, file a claim, deductable is $250 but the dealership comes, gets it and fixes it.

They are usually mounted on the frame (or subframe) and have the four lines running through it. If one side see's an overpressure situation like hitting a curb then the pressure is "relieved" or "crossed over" to the other side letting the plow turn.

Here is a picture on my JD #380 plow:

Good question....what does that warning label in the last pic of the first post say? OP, sure you are not supposed to pin the blade?
