This sounds so much like a CAT delete, now all you need is a resister to tell the O2 sensor what it wants to see. I bet the "datalogger" can be spoofed instead of eliminated.

I am going to spoof the data logger. It will never log a second without the DPF installed.

I will follow this with interest. Although my tractor won't have DPF it's still an interesting subject I have a little bit of experience with.

You don't need to spoof it. Just unplug it. My 3725 was delivered with the data logger unplugged. It ran fine with no dash lights.

It's too bad you didn't even try it. Unless you idle all the time it works well and the air you breathe is cleaner.

I think you missed the sarcasm in his message. The computer will think it's installed by telling it that's it's there and running fine.

Too bad the OP didn't get a baseline number for the emissions coming out the exhaust during the dyno test. That also would be interesting.:scratchchin:

Yes, I did (if that was how it was intended). I still think people should try just using the tractor for a while and worry about removing the DPF only if it's really a problem for them. It will be interesting to see what the dyno results are. And yea, numbers for the emissions would be interesting too.

It seems like a lot of work to make something to fake out the temperature and pressure sensors in the DPF when you can just unplug the logger. Of course with the logger unplugged the dealer can't usefully query it. But all it logs is the DPF's condition and if there's no DPF they don't need to query it. If it was me I'd want to make sure the dealer would still honor the warranty with the DPF (and logger) removed. But unless the dealer's a real stickler or has taken a dislike to you or Branson corporate makes them, I'd think they would. Unlike with EFI tractors it seems unlikely that removing the DPF on a Branson would cause an engine problem.

I don't know what the benefit would be with a tractor, it was more a technique for cars to keep the emissions folks off your back and keep the car from throwing codes.

I was being sarcastic. All I am going to do is remove the data logger. Good point about getting the emissions tested but I doubt they can do it at the small JD dealer I am using. I did not think to ask because I really am not concerned. I do know I will not be working the tractor hard enough to keep the filter clean. With my health being a concern later I am trying to handle as much now as I can.

The muffler shop could not get the flanges so I dropped it off at a machine shop to build them for me. I will pick the flanges up Friday and go back to muffler shop early next week.

I did verify with the dealer and the Branson rep that approves warranty work that it will not void the warranty.

That is good to hear. Mine said the exact same thing. Wouldn't affect the warranty in any way.

Hey Slim, do you remember or know what size your exhaust pipe is? The IH-4 is quite a bit larger than my pipe and my muffler shop is wanting me to find a muffler with smaller pipe.

I think it's 1 7/8" or 2". Don't recall exactly. But if they're going "flange-to-flange" on your mod, I can't see how it would matter. If I recall, the muffler pipes are 2".

That's close to what mine is. I think I measured about 1 3/4" at the flange. I think the IH-3 is about the same size as the IH-4 with smaller pipe. I will look again. I also will still keep the IH-4 just in case we wind up needing it.

Thanks for the help.

I doubt it will matter, depending on what your shop does. My guy cut the existing pipes completely off of the Stanley muffler and welded on his own pipes. Maybe you can kind of see it in this pic:

He welded his pipe more or less directly to the muffler body, just using a slight stub to weld onto.

That's why I was thinking it probably wouldn't matter for your install. But obviously you want to go with whatever your shop wants, they have the plan.

I was able to get the flanges made and picked them up today. I reinstalled the DPF and am taking the tractor to the muffler shop next week. I am planning on taking a few days off to get this done. Probably Thursday and Friday. That way I can stay and help as he is a one man shop. Work gets in the way of progress sometimes but I do like eating so can't complain to much.

Once you get it there, help him take the hood off before you guys get too serious about it. You'll both find it easier to work in there with no hood.

Good luck, and looking forward to the "after" reports.

Will do Slim! Yes getting it out with the hood on was not to bad. Putting it back was because the bracket for the hood cylinder moved and I could not get it back into position without disconnecting. Kind of a pain by yourself.

Exhaust mod complete. We ended using a turbopack type muffler. It looks like a glass pack but it is not a straight thru. Sounds really nice, not too loud at all. Not much different than with the DPF. Turned out good but we did not paint today. I will paint it another day when weather is better.

Tomorrow morning we are doing the second PTO dyno test. I will post results tomorrow night! Thanks again for all the help to everyone!

That's a nice and clean install! Very nice K5!

A coat of paint and I would say it's a factory install.

Looking forward for the dyno results.
