I've just put an order in for a 6' Woods. Looking forward to getting it for spring work on the drive.

I got the KK 6' flip tail unit and have used it a lot I made a lot of turns with it and that's not recommended to do. I've not busted or bent anything yet. I put in a new home and have done most all the landscaping with it. I paid $525 for it 2 yrs. ago. bjr

i have a gannon box, and if you have enough hp. it is a very good way to go, it hydraulicly lowers the teeth to ripp hard ground out and it rocks back on the back flap and raises the inside cutting edge and allows you to grade out all the material in the box. i have a cylinder for my center link on the 3pt, and if i shorten the cylinder it lowers the cutting edge and cuts the high spots out then on the fly i lenghen the cylinder and it will grade out all the gravel in the box without raising the box with the 3pt. hope i did not confuse you to bad.

In the way of a follow up. I ended up with the Woods HB 72" and so far it has been great. I have been able to level the dirt floor in the pole barn (soon to be compacted limestone) and have found the balance for FEL work great. I like the build and heft of the box and the overall quality of this box blade. Only time will tell how much use I will get out of it, but I anticipate a whole lot as my to-do list keeps getting bigger!

I wouldn't worry too much about name brand. Find one with thick side walls, heavy tines, and reversible blades on the inside and on the rear. Alot of the new king kutters I've been seeing look really flimsy to me.

Leon Wittner, how does your l2800 handle the 6 ft blade? I have Yanmar 30 hp and am looking at a 6' bush hog sbx72 blade. what do you think? mine is 2wd. thx.

I have a BH SBX650 that I use on my TC34. (35HP hydro) BH doesn't get a lot of credit for their boxes, but I am really satisfied with mine. (paid $550, new-but slightly-aged inventory)

Unless I really needed to cover my tracks or needed lots of edge on the outside (like ditching, fencelines, or such), I would stay closer to 5 1/2' box. But this may just be a good setup for my machine. A light 6' box, depending on your primary application may work well for you.

Too deep a cut can bog down the smaller compacts pretty fast. There are several factors that go into this though. Application, Soil condition/type, tractor weight, transmission type, and gearing probably are as important or more important, than just the HP.

Hope this helps,

Rich
