Most of it is due to the LENGTH of that trailer, it becomes a teeter totter with the axles so (relatively) close together.
Most of the rest of it is due to having the weight close to the axles.
I suggest;
a) Get the weight farther forwards.
b) Use a load distributing hitch to pick your truck up again.
c) Air bags MIGHT help the truck, they'd certainly be smoother than additional leafs.

Hi Bob,

I am with George on the WD hitch. I pulled an 18' car hauler maxed at 7k# a few times with my '05 Chev 5.3L 1500 RC LB and was nervous as all get out even with a properly positioned load. Saw a post here and borrowed a buddy's WD hitch to see if it made a difference and -lo and behold- it was night and day. Doubt it will do much empty but it cut down on the 'porpoising' when loaded notably, highly recommended. Saw a few on Rochester Craigslist last week, might still be there.
