I got a price today of $7600 installed with a 16 inch bucket. The salesman said they charge $400 for the istallation because it is a pain in the rear for the initial setup. $7200 to do it myself. Is that a good price??? How much would a comparable Woods Hoe cost?

Sorry but that is about what they are getting. I think the Woods can be had for a bit less (guessing...). The only thing more expensive than buying a hoe is owning one!

The 9' Woods is $8,500 (installed) w/ a mech. thumb. It can be converted to a hyd. thumb fo ~$2k. New Hampshire price
The BH 90 has a really tiny platform to work off of. Unless you < 5'8" you are likely to feel very cramped on it.

paid $6700 for my (bh90/16" bucket)installed at time of tractor purchase so it looks like there should be room to negotiate.

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering what the ball park was.. Now I have to figure if it is worth the investment for what I need to use it for.. Thanks again..

I suggest you also consider bucket size.

I would go with two buckets, 12" and 24" if I were to do it again. My BL4690 is smaller, but the first bucket was included in the cost of the hoe...I ended up with 10" and 16" and regret that I was not smart enought to go 12 and 24. The reason being that 12 is not much wider than 10, and will clear a little better when dumping, and 16" is pretty narrow when you want to get into the trench and do something. Backfilling is not much of an issue in any case...

I am 6'4", about 220# and have the BH90 on my 5030. While initially I thought that getting in the seat was a bit tight, I have since gotten used to it. Once in the operator's seat, I have no complaints. That said, I haven't ever operated a different unit so don't have much to compare to. I have the 18" bucket and the 36" bucket. The 36" bucket has remained mounted since I installed it maybe seven months ago. It was high dollar, no doubt, but for the amount of time it has saved me it was worth every dime.
