Okay, I'm sick and tired of having to remove the FEL brace to open the hood to reach in front of the radiator to put clamps on the battery to either charge the battery or jump-start the tractor.

Solution? I purchased heavy duty quick connects, inserted a pair in my jumper cables (about 1/4 to 2/3 from one end, giving me long and short cables to work with) and using a section scavenged from my jumper cables, made a charge/jump point on the side of the tractor with a matching plug to mate with the jumper cables.

I can now charge or jump the tractor without having to touch the hood.

They sure are great. I did the same thing a few years ago with my old forklift. Good stuff.

I've got a set as well, sticking out from the grill of my JD4300, (also a set on my pickup) Booster cables will plug into either one...or if needed I can hook the battery charger clips to them

Depends on the size you buy. Some of mine are good for #2 wire (over 100amp continuous rating), others came with connectors for #10 wire (smaller size plugs). Many sets of booster cables are made of #6 wire which is normally rated for about 50-60 amps continuous use. I believe the large connectors say 400amps on them....but that would be for booster cable type use(intermittent), not lift trucks (continuous)....
I use a set on my 8000lb winch and have never had a heating problem...much the same load as a starter but for longer periods
