Best implement for road grading, for a 40HP CUT, regardless of cost?

... for a limerock road in N Central Florida. This road tends to get little depressions, from where tires hit water & spray the water out off the road, & is "wavy" from where the limerock delivery man didn't spread the limerock as he drove, he just dumped it in small piles, & it was never graded out smoothly. Currently I think the guy that grades the road just lets his box blade float along the road, which slightly improves it each time, but leaves a lot to be desired.

Best I can determine it would be a rear grading blade with hydraulic tilt, offset & angle functions, with a hydraulic gauge wheel, such as Land Pride's RBT3584 (7') or RBT3596 (8').

What do you think?

Start with new material...say maybe 3/4 gravel or stone. Then, the implement is cheap.....$700 Box Blade.:thumbsup:

See Land Pride Grading Scraper for an example. There are many brands out there. I own a Land Pride, but I'm sure they are all similar and works well. The Grading Scraper is similar to a Box Scraper but has a few features meant specifically for grading a road.

To do what is needed, you will need something that will angle (note the feature in the road grader pic by Egon).

Carry that idea back to whatever tool is used and a rear blade with height adjusting wheels which angles is the best tool sans a road grader. The box blade with rippers would be great if there was one that would also adjust to an angle.

And I see the Road Boss posted by Compact1 has an angled blade (clicked on the link, and had to turn the sound off....why do these people put sound on a video? :mur: )

See how this grader has wheels both in front of & behind the grading blade - That's my reason for including the gauge wheel ... to make the machine as loooong as possible, for smoothness, to reduce those waves I mentioned.

A two blade scrapper grader would do wonders for your road. I maintain a one acre equipment lot that has crushed concrete as the surface. I used to use a box blade. The scapper works much better for maintaining the lot.

But look at the response with comments about the grader blade and angle. The blade also tilts which makes cutting easier or laying out the windrow easier.:thumbsup:

So; look for an implement the emulates those characteristics. They are out there and are frequently used in irrigation areas. They are not cheap.
