Bent pins: fix or replace?

why did the pins get bent in the first place? Might want to figure out the cause prior to investing in new.

I have mine bent, hit it with the hammer a couple of times and all good now. Don't overthink it, they are soft for a reason. You don't need a press

I always want the easiest to replace, cheapest, part to break first. I would think that pin is very easy to find and rather inexpensive to buy.

I can’t find these same pin sizes to save my life!

BY300-240001 - 25mm dia X 90mm long (~1” x 3-1/2”)
BY400-440000 - 20mm dia X 215mm long (~3/4” x 8-1/2”)

There seems to be every size in these diameters except what I need.

Dealer came back with $126.

Without a press, I have this redneck idea to carefully use my log splitter with some blocking. I’ll let you guys know how it goes!

My tactic on this is the same for all my part alteration experiences. I buy new ONCE, then fix, or have fixed the broken or bent part(s). So, I pay for the crime and have a replacement on-hand when needed ASAP. I do learn the lessons, though, too.

Have you tried a hammer? Works better than breaking your splitter

Why not just buy a stick of the correct diameter drill rod (which will come polished) and cut to length and be done with it. Should be a whole lot cheaper,

Drill rod will work-harden and break instead of bend.
