Hello Everyone, I have a BCS 830 tractor with a 9hp Briggs and Stratton engine. I would like to swap it out with a 13hp Honda. My question is, would it be four bolts off of the BS and then bolt the new Honda on? Or, does the clutch have to be removed with the BS and then replaced on the Honda before installing the new engine? I've had the machine for four years now and want to get some different implements. Everything seems to require more Horse Power nowadays. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

This doesn't really answer your question, though I think you have to install the clutch first on the replacement engine.
EarthTools are the go-to people and have some re-power info on their site: Replacement Engines - Earth Tools

Keep us in the loop.

Wes thanks for the reply and link. I'm well aware of Earth Tools, I wish I lived closer to them. I did call them (ET) about a year ago and the person who answered the phone was not sure. I figured I would throw out the question and see if anyone with more experience than me with BCS might know the answer. It appears the old thread does answer my question. Thanks again.

Glad I could help - a bit.
I just sold a Chinese knockoff of the Honda GX390 for $100 to a guy re-powering an old Gravely, it was 'well used and abused' but still ran like new. Don't know where you are, but Harbour Freight sells these as Predators. Just an idea to save $$$$$s.

The Predators will be my last resort. I'd rather go with something that is more common and readily available for parts. Thanks again.

Nothing wrong with a Pred. It's a disposa-motor. It pukes, you lanndfill it and get another. You can get 3 Preds for one Honda.
