My tractor battery developed a short and would discharge overnight. I bought a replacement and when I removed the old battery I knew I had to do something about the battery tray. It was all rusted and coated in battery corrosion dust. So a restore was in order. I removed the tray, wired wheeled the exposed areas and brushed the hard to access areas. I then used aircraft acid proof battery box paint. I have used this paint with good results. I feel it will help this tray live a little longer. I may have to fabricate the right side battery hold down bar as it was pretty well eaten away. It may hold for a while longer. The paint should help. Anyway, thought I would share some pics. The paint is high gloss so the last picture shows the grass reflection and does not show the black finish too well.

/ Battery Tray Restore #3
I wanted a metal tray for my old Kubota. The rust had eaten the original and two license plates that made up the bottom. I found a Square D electrical panel box in the scrap and it became a perfect heavy gauge battery box. A little cutting and a few mig welds plus a heavy mud flap bottom (to reduce virbration) and I was back in the fields.
