BATTERY-BREAK AWAY HOOK UP?

What kind of device do you folks hook your battery- break away cable to on your tow rig? I ve been looping mine through the hook on my safety chains before i hook them,but this is wrong because if the trailer breaks away the chains probably broke.Thanks in advance.

I have a loop bolted on to my bumper from the manufacturer. I got one of those dog leash clasps and I connect the cable to the clasp and loop. You can hook it anywhere on your vehicle but not to the hitch. Just make sure you have enough slack so the cable will not engage while driving. You want the cable to engage if the trailer and/or the hitch break free so those items are off limits to connecting the cable.

I used to attach it to the hole in the bumper for a hitch ball on my old truck but my new truck doesn't have one. I am trying to figure out the same thing because right now my hitch is the only place I can attach it. I agree that the point of it is to have another way to stop the trailer if the hitch should come off or fail. I think this bumper may have punch outs for hitch balls so that is probably what I will have to do.

This question came up before and I posted my suggestion. I use snap clips hooked to the bumper. That way if for some unknown reason the frame mounted hitch decided to leave the truck the clip attached to the bumper would pull the breakaway pin. They are inexpensive.
