Anyone know how much antifreeze needs to go into the rear tires of the DK 45se hst, total volume on chart is 47 gal. I would like to get them protected down to about 0 deg. F. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

PS: Would like to know the MSRP for the KB 2485 backhoe?

You need to mix 35% anti-freeze to 65% water. Considering how much anti-freeze is, have you looked into Rim Guard?

My dealer poured in 1250 pounds of the stuff into all four of my Kioti's wheels for a reasonable price.

I second the Rim Guard recommendation. I thought it was pretty reasonable, and sure makes a difference.

R-1 or R-4 tires? Rim Guard is your best option. You don't want to put anything corrosive in there. On an R-4's it takes 94 gal. which adds 1004 lbs..
The 2485 backhoe lists for @ $9,000.

Checked all around this am my dealer doesn't even know what it is. The closest dealer that even has Rim Guard is 96 miles from me and I would have to take my tractor to him for them to put it in. That's just too much to do, I'm thinking of an alternative to use walmart rv antifreeze to fill both back tires. May not be the smartest thing to do but I'm gonna try it.

Also thanks for the price on that backhoe. I really like the way it hooks up, and from youtube look's like it preforms well.

If you use rv antifreeze you will have to use it pure, it won't mix with water.

I know I will have to use it as is no diluting, but that is cheaper than using the amount of antifreeze I will need to get the proper ratio.
I called Rim Guard to get the dealer contact info the rep there thought maybe they would sell to individuals, but they say not. I may call back to see if they know of a specific dealer that will sell by container.

If anyone is interested I have a shop manual for the DK55 make me an offer and $10 shipping!!!!!!

I had my tires loaded at a tire repair place. It was inexpensive to do and much more convenient than the Kubota dealerships location. Any tire store that caters to farmers should have it.

I used -20* windshield washer fluid in mine with a HF utility pump. RV antifreeze will also work. No one in my area would sell rim guard to me by the gallon. The dealers that have it have to put it in so you have the price of rim guard plus the cost of installation. I would have to load the tractor on trailer and take it to them for the day.

Rimguard is beet juice and non toxic, Anti-freeze is very toxic. It shouldn't be used if there are other options.

When I had my dealer load my tires with rim guard I found out they don't actually do the work. The local farm bearu/elevator comes over from across town and fills the tires for them. It may be available in your area.

Just got through reading a report from John Deere on ballast. They recommend to fill rear tires to only 40% for best performance. I would like read some of your ideas on that.

You never want to fill tires more than 75%. You need that air space in there to absorb shocks. Air is compressible liquid is not. Hit a bump with a 100% loaded tire & you are likely to blow the tire off the rim.

Some people say to load it just over the top of the rim so all the metal is covered & air can't get to it to promote corrosion.

CORRECTION; automotive antifreeze in most cases is ETYLENE GLYCOL which is deadly posion that disrupts and destroys kidney and liver function, ingesting it will lead to a very painful death. (note; I sell thousands of gallons of propylene glycol inhibited with anticorrosion additives for HVAC systems in schools, hospitals etc. So that if something happened to leak and anyone drink it, would only give them a bad case of the runs.)
That said the RV antifreeze is usually NON TOXIC PROPYLENE GLYCOL, but READ THE LABEL. Propylene glycol RV antifreeze may contain some anticorrosion additives, but will not kill you, might make you very regular for awhile. READ THE LABELS.
I used windshield washer fluid in my CK20, works good but is about the same weight as water (8.34 lbs/gal). Next caution is most windshield washer fluid is methyl alcohol (sometimes known as wood alcohol and is poisonous).
My new CK2510 the dealer loaded the rears with RIMGARD (11+ lbs/gal). I have noted some "lumpiness" on the road in high gear, when temp in the 20's.
Can't wait for snow in Rochester NY, to try out my CK2510 cab, heat, stereo, and front mount snowblower.. Yahooo!!

I just had my 13.6-24 Ag Tractor tire tubed and filled with calcium for 100 bucks. A tube is about fifty bucks and prevents the corrosion thing. This works well and is not that expensive.

To be clear there are two types of antifreeze ETYLENE GLYCOL = EXTREMELY POISONOUS/ PROPYLENE GLYCOL= NON POISONOUS (even comes in food grade, ie; jelly donut fillings)
WW fluid -20*F has alcohol as the antifreeze component usually methyl alcohol (also poisonous) . RV antifreeze is Propylene glycol with corrosion inhibitors to protect metal parts, won't kill but you'll spend quality time in the outhouse!!
