Finally able to get back on here with update
I have put the steering tie rod and drag link assembly back on. The pitman arm is twisted slightly and I thought I could just flip it around and put the twist in opposite direction however the small hole on the arm seems to be beveled to fit only one way so I will have to use it as is.
New arm not available .... Tried heating and twisting back but no luck
Anyway it's getting closer to be able to use
NOW I would like to ask a question I am almost embarrassed to ask... I forgot which way the wheels go on!
Does the deep part of the front wheel go inside or out?
Does it matter which way it goes on?
thanks for advice
Rick

Look at the lug nut marks, if there.:)

The rim design should actually indicate the lug nut side.:)

Thanks egon I guess I sanded pretty good before painting couldn't see them
I guess what's throwing me off is the rear tire air valve is on the inside and the way I mounted MY front tires air valve is on outside I'm gonna try it soon
Putting steering rid and gear box back together and now a new problem,,, how do I. Align the gear the pitman arm is attached to and the actual steering shaft worm type gear assembly
I am gonna just try in the center first unless someone has a suggestion

By guess and by gosh !

Jack up front so tires turn easily. Center steering wheel. Equal amount of turn either way. Get wheels pointing straight ahead. Place pitman arm on spline.:)

Repeat till you figure it's right.

Make sure the wheel turn limiting bolts are set.:)

What kind of oil goes in there ?
I have some gear oil 80w will that work?
And should I put silicone or permatex on the top rubber seal ?

Thanks egon. I have a few more questions as usual. Sorry I just am so limited in what I know. I think reading this forum has made me more aware of how this thing operates...thanks to you all.

The wheels bolt onto the hub and that casing has a fill hole too. Do you think that would be gear oil too like 80/90 weight.
I wanted to open those casings to see if they were ok but then I thought I would probably need the gaskets to reseal it. Guess Im getting ahead of myself and I will just check to see the fluid is full.

Im getting closer to getting it going.
I put the steering box back together and now have to reassemble the instrument panel cuz I painted it and Im almost ready to go. Guess I oughta change the oil and filter and the hyraulic oil as well. Does Hydraulic fluid go bad?

once again my friend, thanks for all your help.

Sorry I just am so limited in what I know. /QUOTE]

Spend a day in my shoes and then you will know what "Limited" means.:(:ashamed:

From memory the manual calls for 90wt. gear oil for the wheels and center differential.

They all have a drain plug on the bottom and a fill plug on top.

Jack up the front and tilt axle makes it easier draining wheels.

For checking them out I'd just drain and see if anything extra in the oil.
