Does anyone have a schematic or some tips that can help me trace the tachometer wiring? What sort of sender does it use? I assume it is electrical. All the rest of the electrics are working OK, so I doubt it is a fuse.

Thanks,

Al

Tachometer is run by a cable. It is not electronic. Check both ends of cable to make sure it is hooked up. You will have to pry up the gages with a screwdriver to get off of dash. Be careful, plastic is easily marked. Cable runs to front of engine. Upper right when looking from front of tractor. You may have a broken inner cable.

Yes, the inner cable snapped. It happened right at a sharp bend next to the instrument, only 101 hrs. Seems like it may not have been right to begin with. Ah well, easy fix.

If it broke after only 101 hours, I would have the dealer replace both the cable and casing. The casing might have a burr inside of it that is causing the problem. If it is under warranty, why settle for anything less than a completely new service part.
