So with all the snow here in New England I'm really depending on this tractor. Been great all winter but just ran into a problem today. Tractor starts up and idles fine however when I hit either the forward or reverse peddle it dies. I checked both air filters and they look clean. Actually removed them both and same problem exists. Fuel sould be OK since its been treated and machine is fine at idle.

I'm thinking dirty or clogged fuel filter. Just looking for comments and / or suggestions.

Thanks

Ed

Change the fuel filter and make sure you bleed the system to expel the air, you then should be good to go. You didn't say how many hours you had on tractor or when it was serviced last.

Check the fuel cap......frozen and or dirty and won't let air in....just a thought. Check out air filter as well

Thanks guys. Changed fuel filter early last year but it does look a bit dirty. Will check fuel cap as well.

How would I expel air if I do change the fuel filter?

Had the same problem a few years back on a B1700....Iced up fuel filter restricting fule flow. Engine would idle but die when more RPMs called for.

Thanks all. Just watched a YouTube on expelling air. Gonna attack the filter with a hair dryer later.

Do you have a manual, after fuel filter change/clean the injector pump has to be bled .

What about the seat safety switch?
It would behave exactly as described.
On my B3030,I can stand next to the running tractor and push on the hydro pedal ever so lightly and it will just barely creep.Push just a little bit more and the tractor shuts down.
Perhaps check/bypass the safety switch and try again.
Good Luck!

After re=reading the OP problem description ( I assumed it was when engine speeds up) I agree with NUMBER TWO...sounds like a seat switch.
