I am looking at used bigger B's 7800, 3200, 2630, 3030, did all these come w/ a loader valve? I don't need a FEL now, but later who knows.....

Of those you listed I believe the 3200 is the only one that comes with a loader valve. I think it is available without one as well. Only the new models come with the valve.

if the tractor does not have a loader valve, can you add one?

No, not unless they also had a FEL installed.

Yes - fairly easily. The pump is there, you simply add the plumbing.

No, I think you overlooked the fact that without the FEL subframe & uprights mounted to the tractor, there's nothing to attach the loader valve to.

The 'simple' plumbing also involves adding the aux block and connections at the front and a tank return line back to the HST. Not terribly difficult, but I wouldn't call it "plug & play" either and extra pieces are involved.

The best way to think of a FEL is as a complete kit, and this is obviously the most comprehensive and cost effective way to purchase the components.

You might be thinking of the 3300SU.

I suppose that, from the original post, the intent of the inquiry concerned adding a FEL at a later point - hence would have structure for physical mounting.

As with any project - simple/difficult meter swings wildly depending on equipment and installer.

Agree that this is the easiest way...

Cheers!

Ahh... whereas I interpreted it as he wanted to know if those tractors came with an integral loader valve - e.g., like the B3300SU. Himself thinking maybe he wanted to use said valve to control some unspecified other implements now, and a FEL at some later point.

OP might just have to elaborate on his 'intent' for us non-mind-readers, eh?

To elaborate....if I am looking at a used B7800 that did not come with a FEL, is it possible and how hard would it be to put one on.....I hope this makes sense...I would need a hay bale spear more than I would a FEL probaly...

Well that model comes with one too but so does the 2x20 series and the 3200. I believe the 2320 and 3200 can be had without one but I doubt you see many that way.

I don't think you will be doing much with round bales and a B7800 using a loader mounted bale spear. if that is a goal. Others will chime in here on that issue.

You are correct, I overlooked the 3200. Also correct about the 2x20 series, though they weren't in the list.

That's somewhat a contradiction of terms...

You WOULD need a FEL. You just maybe don't need a bucket, but you'd need every other part of the FEL, as well as a quick-tach most likely (no idea if there is a direct-fit bale spear for that loader; haven't seen one).

A 3PH spear is an inexpensive but very limited option, if you don't need to actually lift them more than needed to transport.

Like Chuck says though, B7800 isn't going to do much with round bales. You'd definitely need adequate rear ballast, and then assuming you have no problem actually lifting the bale, the machine just doesn't have enough reach to lift them very high. E.g., you wouldn't be able to get them into a hay loft. For that you'd need an entirely larger rig.

That's what I meant, I would need the FEL but no bucket......either way B or L series, if the tractor does not have the FEL, is it something I can add later and still be cost feasible rather than spending the extra money upfront for one with the FEL?? Thanks

Front end loader is a fairly straight-forward addition to any of the B series - with no real additional cost by installing later.

I think what folks are trying to get across is that none of the B series has enough capacity to lift large round bales competently with a front end loader type device. While you MAY get it off the ground, you'll have a hard time putting it onto a trailer or such. You may be able lift for transport with 3-point hitch spear.

Good luck

The only thing you may be losing out on is, a number of dealers will sell a new tractor and loader together as a "package deal". If you buy a FEL after the fact, you're in less of a position to negotiate a good price for it, and will most likely pay close to, if not, full price. You will also miss out on the ability to finance it at 0% along with the tractor, which is commonly done.

The dealer's time & labor for installation should be included in the price (barring unforseen extraordinary complications), but you of course have to be responsible for the transporting to & from.

So your best bet is still to buy it when you buy the tractor, regardless whether new or used tractor.

That entirely depends on the size of the round bales. It will handle the small 4'x4' bales (600-800lbs) fine with adequate counter weight (such as another bale on the back). It will stack bales that size two bales high, but not three high. It'll also load them on a trailer, but once again the limited lift height only allows you to put them on a trailer one row high. If you are going to be doing this a lot an L series would be a better fit however.

Maybe so. However, I did use the phrase "large round bales".
