I have trapped exactly 60 mice around the outside of the house on the porches and patios in 2025. I keep the traps baited with peanut butter 24/7. Obviously it makes no difference to the larger population but I like to think that it keeps them thinned down around the house and barn. For 10 years I’ve been able to keep the rodents from chewing my wiring by keeping lights on under the hood of my pickup. About a month ago they got me. During a cloudy, rainy week i should have kept the lights on 24/7 instead of being on a timer. Rodents made a nest under my intake manifold and chewed the wiring harness. $1100 to have it repaired. Now the lights are on 24/7 and I just sprayed the engine compartment with peppermint.
The owls always got my outdoor cats.I could use a ferrel cat.
