A story about those grates. Daughter's elementary school had those outside their outside doors. Kids out for recess. They noticed a quarter in the grate area. Warm weather, no snow. 2 kids lifted grate up for someone to grab quarter. Other kid said grate to heavy so they let go. But they didn't warn the other kid, my daughter, that were going to let go. Yup, daughter's finger got pinched, and she ended up at ER. Stitches or something and she still has a deformed finger tip from scarring. Jon

For 10 years I’ve been able to keep the rodents from chewing my wiring by keeping lights on under the hood of my pickup. About a month ago they got me. During a cloudy, rainy week i should have kept the lights on 24/7 instead of being on a timer. Rodents made a nest under my intake manifold and chewed the wiring harness. $1100 to have it repaired. Now the lights are on 24/7 and I just sprayed the engine compartment with peppermint.

I have trapped exactly 60 mice around the outside of the house on the porches and patios in 2025. I keep the traps baited with peanut butter 24/7. Obviously it makes no difference to the larger population but I like to think that it keeps them thinned down around the house and barn.

I used to have a rodent problem. In one sitting, my wife flushed over 80 of them out of a hole in the ground by flooding it with a hose. The chickens tore apart every single one of them while eating them alive.

Then one day a stray cat showed up. It was pregnant and after she had her babies, they grew up and a boy cat showed up. More babies. In less than a year we had 20 cats. It was crazy, but we realized that we didn't have any mice anymore!!!!!
