Bo - I saw a rental cabin in Yosemite Park that was built with logs like yours. It was on a show called Motion on the Live Well Network. They had it painted with redwood paint on the outside. Just thought I would share that there are other similar log cabins out there.

I am facinated by this, the sheer size of the logs you are handling is so impressive. :thumbsup:

I am sure you will get to this and will eventually provide pictures, but I am too impatient and have to ask. What do you do about windows? Do you actually cut right through one of those huge logs and remove a section?

When we stacked them we marked where the windows will be and made sure we didn't put any rebar there. Once we have the roof on and actually have the windows on site, then yes, we plunge in with the chain saw and cut out the opening. I will probably nail a 2X4 along the edge of the cut to use as a guide, to get a straight line.
