Progress report: yesterday we finished screwing the drywall in the bathroom, downstairs bedroom, laundry room, kitchen, and hall. This morning I had my "screw inspection". The good news is he passed what we got done and said we could mud. The bad news is that the code says I have to drywall all the ceiling if there is liveable space above. We were just going to do the bathroom and bedroom ceiling, mostly for soundproofing. But now I have to cover the kitchen, dining room, hall, and even the underside of the stairs, for fire protection. Bummer. I really wanted that open beam look and the Tongue and Groove from the floor above to show. Big disappointment! And I'm still at odds over the upstairs. I stubbed out plumbing and electrical for future bath and they are trying to say I have to do it now. Ain't going to happen. This one I'll use an attorney to help me if necessary. Well, I'm off to Home Depot to get more drywall (85 miles one way).
