Well, I'm closer, but no cigar yet. The Chief Building Officer and the plan checker met with me and we had a good discussion for a half hour. They said everything looked okay, but they wanted to review the engineer's calculations. Good grief, I thought that's why you paid the engineer. I did forget the spec sheet for the propane wall furnace, but they said I could just email that in. I also have to put a heat source in the bedroom since I have no ducting. I can email that in also. So while I still have no permit in hand, I'm pretty optimistic.
It is so frustrating to go through all this, especially when 150 miles away, in another county, a friend is building the same structure and his permit process took one day, two pages of plans, and $250. Mine is taking 15 months, 13 pages of plans, about 100 pages of backup material and will probably end up costing $15,000, counting the engineer, the soils testing, yada, yada, yada.
But my government is taking care of me. Yeah, right.
