We got the new road sign put up this past weekend.

So, you have a driveway, a pile of logs, and a shiny new sign -- at TBN we expect projects to be brought in on-schedule, on-budget Mr. Fuller

On the bright side, the county is making it difficult for you to spend money, you have a tractor and dump truck, and some great outdoors time. I hope you can get to building soon.

So here's a couple pictures of the "spreader" we fabbed for my dump truck. It was my first welding, so go easy on the the sloppy work. I have used it a few times now and it works great! Not much to look at, but like I said, it works.

Doesn't it leave a gap in the spread gravel where the cup holder is mounted?

:)

 I realized the next day that I left that coffee mug there. Yes, that would leave a gap.

Last Sunday morning I had planned to sight in my new scope, when my neighbor rolled in with his backhoe and asked if I was ready to put my culvert in. Can't turn down good free help, so we spent the morning putting a 35 foot culvert across the drive. Once again I forgot the pictures. I'll get a couple next time, but obviously I will have none of the actual process.
The weather is finally getting cold. Up until this week it has been unseasonably warm.

On time and on budget. Yeah, right. It didn't take too long on this project to realize the truth of that old saying, "Everything will take twice as long and cost twice as much".

Well, if you can't laugh, you'll cry. Some of the foot dragging you have experienced makes me think the county just wants to discourage development, and they are using the building code to do so?

Is your property part of a former large ranch holding that was parceled off? Maybe it's like here, people feel once the woodlands are parceled out, it will be hard to make a living logging and pursuing traditional ways for future generations.

I think it is a combination of not wanting the area developed and sucking more income from me, especially as an owner-builder. As soon as I get together the last details of what they last requested, I'm going to make an appointment with the main man and request a meeting with the Board of Supervisors. I'm going to go the harassment route and see if they will back off.

Can't hurt.

Mr. Fuller Have you put Christmas lights on a pinion pine and strung a bunch from the street sign to the house.
Any undates on the log inspection and building permit. Or explaination why so slow.
Trust you have good Christmas with family and friends.
Maybe invite the building inspector sounds like he could use a friend.
And maybe next year will be the type you had planned on this year.

No Xmas lights up there. We're not there enough, and because its off-grid.
I'm still wrapping up the details on resubmitting the plans again. I really dislike all the paperwork involved.
I'm going up Friday and picking up some gates in Chino Valley. Had them made there.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Ken.

Just found your ranch thread and read the whole thing. Looking forward to the log house build. I thought it was bad getting permits here, but wow, you got it much worse. Congrats of such a nice property, and such nice neighbors.

It's been 4 weeks since I was at the Ranch and I was having withdrawals, so I drove up today. :) It may not have been the wisest choice as I have had the flu for 3 days and have not completely recovered. I needed to pick up a gate for the drive that has been finished for a couple weeks. If I feel better tomorrow or Sunday then I may install it, if not, then it will wait. If nothing else, I'll bundle up and watch movies. It's going down to 16 tonight but soaring up to 45 tomorrow. There are patches of snow here and there. My wife is scheduled to work a 12 hour shift tonight, Sat night, and Sun night, so I wouldn't have seen her anyway. But I do need to shake this illness so I'll be spending a lot of time in bed tomorrow.

Still laid up from something. I have major ear infection in both ears and am taking antibiotics for it. It's been two weeks since I first came down with this. I don't feel too bad but I only have about 10% hearing. The doc says it might take another 10 days. Being sick is a total bummer.

Get well soon! Nor hearing well isn't always a negative  But, I hope you get back to normal soon.

Oh man hate to hear that(pun intended ;)). On a serious note, get some Seabreeze and dump it in your ears twice a day....the stuff is amazing to heal up ear infections, been using it for 30 years.

Bo, I can't believe the crap you have had to put up with from the codes department. We live in one of the most regulated/taxed states and getting the permit wouldn't be that hard. I wish you luck with both your build and your health.
