It's about three feet in diameter.

Anyway, it looks like an 'industrial' light shade.

That's what it is. Typical shade for an outside light on a barn or outbuilding.

Light shade, usually hanging from a? shaped pipe. Make the ? horizontal and you will have it. Shade hung from the hooked end, bulb screwed into socket that is missing from the top of shade. Standard stuff outside on a 1950's building.

It's badly rusted. Has a decorative coating on the top surface.
Due to it's age, I'm hoping there is no asbestos?
