Anybody ever SELL a metal building?

The beauty of the forum media - old knowledge is still there.
(The necromancer who raised this thread was first-post metal building person, curious what his motivation was in reopening this?)

Modern media like x/twit/fb/ig etc, knowledge pretty much just rots where you can't find it
I have read that material needs to be presented again after a year or so. People forget and the knowledge is lost until someone re-writes the article a different way.

We should recycle some of the older threads so the newbies can bask in the knowledge. I mentioned this numerous times but no one seems interested.

Not just the "stuck drain plug" thread or the guy that was drinking beer in his hammock when he saw Bigfoot. There is lots of good things out there. Just my two cents.

I missed that one. Would you mind rejuvenating it? 🤪 :D
I'm searching for it. There is a reference to it in the rounded drain plug thread so it was before that. There are lots of references to Bigfoot in the TBN so this may take a while.

Got it--from 2013

Do a search of "Bigfoot" on the TBN and there are hundreds of entries. What's that all about.

Old forum posts never die, they just get reposted, again and again and again....

:D ;)

Reinforces what mom's n dad's been saying for years, things you post on the Internet never go away.

I'm planning to put up a metal garage or workshop, but a stick-built structure is out of my budget. With what feels like hundreds of thousands of companies offering metal buildings, I’m not sure where to begin. Are there any specific companies you'd recommend, or suggest avoiding? For those who’ve gone through this process, is there anything you’d do differently if you had to do it again?

Welcome to TBN.

I think if you added your location to your profile, plus which JD model you have, and the size building/budget, and your intended use in a bit more detail you would get better answers. To give one viewpoint on your last question, I don't know anyone who feels that they built one that was too big.

All the best,

Peter

I agree that stirring up old info is good. I’ve learned about and solved several problems with information found in this forum by searching a subject related to my issue.

That being said…

If you’re putting up a new building be sure to pay attention to ventilation
Even though it’s 22 years old the OP was planning on putting guest living above a repair shop?????
Hey buddy come stay at my place and suck repair shop fumes in your sleep!!!
Must be the mother in law apartment 😂🤣

Location is critical.

I recently replaced my steel home-built custom tractor-port with a commercial unit from Carportsandmore. They have a very cool builder app that allows you to choose sizes and options, with the result being a quotation. There are many options these days, and prices included delivery and assembly.

I am pretty happy with my building (18x20), with all its options, but if I did it over again, I would have done the assembly myself. That would have allowed me to customize the column heights on one side, but it would have only saved me installation cost of $200.

BTW, I sold the steel frame and trusses from the tractor-port that I disassembled. I got $500, plus $100 to deliver them on my trailer. CraigsList.

I was in the same boat last year. Stick-built was just too expensive, so I went with a metal building. After a lot of research, I ended up going with SteelMaster Buildings. Overall, the structure is solid and went up pretty smoothly once everything was delivered.

If I had to do it again, I’d definitely make sure the site prep and foundation were 100% ready before delivery, that caused me some headaches. Also, triple-check what’s included in the quote, not all companies are clear on what's "standard" vs. add-ons.
