Antifreeze flowers?

We have these flowers planted by the front gate. I think they are called phlox (but I'm not sure). Anyway, they have a sweet smell that smells just like antifreeze. Everytime I drive by in either my truck or tractor, my heart skips a beat because I think I have a coolant leak. I've fallen for it about four times so far and I'm sure it won't be the last. Anyone else have these types of flowers (photo enclosed)?

I work on diesels so I see a lot of engines come in with a yucky brown sludge for coolant when owners mix and match coolants. A lot of people don't read the directions on the bottles...they see "extended life" and think it must be better so they add it.

I got caught again this afternoon. Neighbor stopped by on his tractor and we were talking near the front gate and sure enough I got a whiff of coolant odor and was about to tell him he has a problem before I caught myself. Geez. You think I would learn. I'm so tuned into that smell. I remember hearing somewhere that smell is the sense with the strongest memory.

Shimon, You're right about that, experienced welders can smell burning cotton in the parts per billion range.
