AGM Battery Life Expectancy

I have a two Yuasa AGM batteries that I bought last year in my generator up north (24v). This spring the unit wouldn't start. Jumped the unit and figured that then it would be ok, but nope, batteries were still dead. Pulled the batteries out and charged them for a while. After a couple of hours the one charger is alerting that the polarity is reversed. The second battery is charging fine. The battery was pretty new so I looked into the warranty... 6 months! Didn't even live through one winter. What junk.

My Kubota L4400 is nearly 12 years old. It gets used about twice a month but sometimes goes several months without us. It still has the original lead battery. It has never been on a battery tender, never been jumped and starts like a champ every time, even in cold weather. I don't even know the brand because I've never needed to bother. I'm not sure how technology can improve on that. If I do ever have to replace it I will certainly try to find the same thing.

My motorcycle Yuasa batteries are wet cell.
I never had a AGM type battery, all wet cell.
Overall I seem to get very good life out of a wet cell battery.
My current pickup battery is 11 years old and still going strong

Your motorcycle battery is probably a AGM.

Bought a yellow top optima about 16 years ago. Used it for everything, marine, winch, booster, etc. This spring I had a charger screw up and the battery quit shortly after. I'm over 70 so I just replaced it with a wet cell at 1/3 the cost....
